NHL Proline Odds Compared To Las Vegas Odds

 

The NHL Proline Odds are much lower when compared to the NHL Odds offered in Las Vegas and Bodog Canada. For every NHL Proline Odd that is 1.70 you will get 1.91 at Bodog Canada. How big of a difference does this make? Let's take a look at an example to see just how bad the NHL Proline Odds are.

Let's assume we purchased a $20 6 game NHL Proline ticket with the odds for each game being 1.70.

 

Our 6 game Proline ticket would pay: 1.7*1.7*1.7*1.7*1.7*1.7*1.7*$20= $482.75

 

Lets's assume we placed that same bet at Bodog Canada with odds of 1.91.

 

That same 6 game Proline ticket would pay: 1.91*1.91*1.91*1.91*1.91*1.91= $971.02

 

In this particular example Proline is shorting you $488.27 from a single $20 bet.

Are the Odds for the NHL Proline Pools or NHL Pro Picks any better?

 

No the odds for the NHL Proline Pools and NHL Pro Picks are not very good at all (in our opinion). All NHL Proline Pools and Pro Picks payout 60% of the prize pool. So if the weekly NHL Proline Pool takes in $50,000 Proline will payout $30,000 to the winners and keep $20,000 for themselves.

 

NHL Point Spread Regulation Time Betting

 

Also, Proline does not offer regulation time NHL betting. For the past few years the most popular method of betting on the NHL has been with Point Spread NHL Regulation Time Betting.

 

Regulation time = The first three periods of the game or 60 minutes (OT and SO do not count).

 

Point Spread = For regulation time NHL betting the point spread is always half a puck (or half a goal). You can either take half a puck which is shown as +0.5 or you can lay half a puck which is shown as  -0.5. If you lay half a puck (-0.5) as your bet your team must be winning by 1 goal or more at the end of regulation time (at the end of the third period). If the game is tied or the other team is winning at the end of the third period you lose this wager. If you take take half a puck (+0.5) as your bet your team must be winning or tied at the end of the third period for you to win the bet. The favorite in the game will always be -0.5 puck and the underdog will always be +0.5 puck. This is a 2 outcome (50/50) type of bet. You can choose either -0.5 or +0.5.

NHL Team Totals Betting

 

NHL Team Totals Betting is another popular way of betting on the NHL. Proline does not offer NHL Team Totals Betting. With NHL Teams Total Betting you bet on how many goals a particular team will score in a game. You are not betting on the total goals scored in a game but just the goals for the team that you choose. The sportsbook will set a total for the team (usually 2.5 goals or 3 goals) and you have to decide if that team will score more or less than the posted number. For example, let`s assume the Leafs were playing and the sportsbook set a team total for the Leafs of 2.5 goals. If you thought the Leafs were going to score 3 goals or more you could choose the OVER. If you thought the Leafs were going to score 2 goals or less you could choose the UNDER. These are great bets to make because it doesn't matter what the other team does. You are only betting on the outcome of one team.
