Before Getting into today's selection let's take a look at a few of the other NHL games taking place tonight. The Leafs head to New York to face the Rangers. This will be the Rangers home opener as MSG has been undergoing some renovations. This is a great spot for the Leafs tonight. The Rangers started the season overseas and are coming off a Western Canadian road trip to boot. Don't be surprised if the Rangers lay an egg in this one. Currently the Leafs are paying 2.35 at Bodog (compared to 1.80 on Proline which is pathetic). Only thing I don't like about the Leafs is that Gustavsson is getting the start. If Reimer was starting I'd really like the Leafs tonight but I can't pull the trigger with the Monster between the pipes (maybe a small bet on the Leafs). Also, No Ryan Miller in goal for the Sabres tonight. Enroth gets the start for Buffalo. Columbus finally got off the snide with their first win over the Red Wings. For 2.70 at Bodog there are worst picks than the Blue Jackets tonight. On to tonight's selection.

The Capitals are off to an amazing start (7-0) and look to be just the 6th team in NHL history to start a season with 8 consecutive wins. The Capitals have been getting it done at both ends of the ice this season. They currently lead in the NHL in scoring averaging 4.14 goals per game and are 6th best in the league at keeping pucks out allowing just 2 goals per game. Caps goaltender Voukon is off to a terrific start posting some great numbers in the early going: 6-0, 1.80 GAA, .944 save %. The Oilers are off to a decent start (4-2-2) but it is not due to their outstanding offence. Currently the Oilers rank dead last in scoring in the NHL averaging just 1.88 goals per game. Surprisingly it has been the Oilers defence and goaltending keeping them in games. The Oilers allow a league best 1.50 goals per game.
Selection:
The Capitals are known for their explosive offence but they are turning into a great defensive team as well. The Capitals have held their last five opponents to 2 goals or less. The Oilers have scored 2 goals or less in 5 of their 8 games this season. The Oilers power play has been nothing special clicking at a mediocre 15.8%.
