The Redskins are coming off an ugly loss last week the vs. Eagles. Heading into last week the Redskins were 3-1 on the arm of Rex Grossman but still not too many believed Grossman was the QB to lead the Redskins to the playoffs and beyond. And after just one bad game (one really bad game) Grossman finds himself on the bench for the start of week #7 vs. Carolina. I guess 4 interceptions in less than a full game will do that. At QB this week for the Redskins will be John Beck. This will be Beck's first start in the NFL since 2007. In his career Beck has 8 interceptions himself in just 4 games. Expect a lot of running from the Redskins this week. As for the Panthers they are coming off a 31-17 road loss to the Falcons. The Panthers lead entering the 4th quarter in that game but were unable to hold down Atlanta late and were outscored 17-0 in the 4th quarter. Even still Newton has looked good for a rookie QB with his 6 TD passes and 6 TD rushes through just 6 games.

Sure the Panthers are 1-5 but that record is misleading as they have lost a lot of close games and played some tough teams. As for the Redskins 3-2 record that is also misleading as evidenced by their performance last week. The Redskin management obviously has no faith in Grossman for Rex to get the hook so easily. This can't inspire much confidence in the Washington players. Even at 1-5 the Panthers have been making their backers a nice profit this season going 4-1-1 against the spread. I like the Panthers to cover the spread this week as well. Currently the Panthers are a -2.5 favorite at 5 Dimes Online Sportsbook. I'm going to jump on the Panthers early before this line goes to -3.
