2011-12 Calgary Flames Season Preview

 

 

The Flames are coming off a down year finishing 10th in the West and missing the playoffs. On a positive note the Flames did play well down the stretch going 27-11-9 in the second half of the season. What does the 2011-12 seaspn have in store for the Flames?

What we have this season is a team very similar to last years team with the excepption of defenceman Robyn Regehr. Again the Flames will be depending heavily on superior efforts from Iginla and Kiprusoff. However, they are not getting any younger. Things will have to go absolutely perfect for the Flames to be a factor this season. Rarely do things go exactly as planned.

Prediction:

The Flames have been fortunate with Iginla and Kipper being fairly healthy the past few seasons. But with age comes injuries and the NHL seasons are grueling. If either Iginla or Kipper miss any significant amount of games the Flames are in trouble. It is hard to predict injuries but we predict a tough year for the Flames. We predict the Flames missing the playoffs again this season with an 11th place finish in the West.
