Wed Jun 15 Stanley Cup Finals Game #7: Bruins vs. Canucks

Preview:

Who says that home ice doesn't matter? Nothing could be further from the truth in the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals. Through six games of this years Stanley Cup the home team has won all six games. We have seen Vancouver sqeak out three close victories at home (1-0, 3-2 (OT), 1-0). As for the Bruins they have completely dominated the Canucks on their home ice putting up 17 goals in their three victories at TD Gardens. In game #6 we saw Luongo surrender three quick goals before the mid-way point of the first period leading to his quick exit. However, we also saw a poor performance from Lunogo in game #4 in Boston in which he responded with a shutout victory in the next game. It shoul be interesting to see if the home ice dominance continues tonight. There are some injury concerns for this game, especailly on the Vancouver blueline. Hamhuis and Alberts are both questionable for game #7, Edler is listed as probable, and Rome is out. Plus Mason Raymond is out for game #7 after leaving game #6 with an injury. Will the injuries catch up with the Canucks or does Luongo have one big game left in him to take down the Cup?

Selection:

This is a tough game to predict. A strong case can be made for both sides. Vancouver has dominated on home ice and having game #7 in Vancouver is a big advantage. However, Tim Thomas has been consistent throughout the Finals and all three games in Vancouver were closely contested and could have gone either way. Throw in the fact the the Canucks blueline is beaten down and one could make a strong case for the Bruins as well. So, rather than make the tough decision we'll sit on the fence for this one and play the game to GO TO OVERTIME. Every game in Vancouver was close and could have gone to OT. We'll take our chances that this is another close game and that the Stanley Cup Champion is decided in overtime. The odds for this game to go to overtime are 3.80 at 5 Dimes.
